Speed Sumo and PIE!

NOTE: This class has a rolling enrollment and because students start over each week and build a different robot, drop ins are welcome and we can be flexible with the schedule.

If you are planning on coming this Friday but haven't had time to register, PLEASE let me know so I can have an idea of the number of students might attend. PARENTS: Yes, you are TOTALLY welcome to come and play, watch or use the 2 hours to breath and just have a break.

Is it possible to build a robot and program it to battle other robots in 2 hours? Yes it is!

Every summer, campers enrolled in the Sumo Battle Bots class at our Rocks and Robots Summer Day Camp seem to build and stick with their first design. Cool, yes, but we wanted to add in a little twist to spice things up. Yes, we can be twisted and spicy at the Brain Monkeys Laboratory, but only when we mix in our secret ingredient: the sweetness factor! But enough about our mad skills, we want to see yours, unless you are too scared....

This twisted, spiced up version of Sumo is offered as a 6 week class and the rules are simple:

1) you begin with a complete kit. The twisted part is that it is completely taken apart, down to the very last cord!

2) On our signal, you have 90 minutes to build, program and train your robot creation to battle its competitors in a sumo battle.

3) At the end of the 90 minutes, the battle rounds begin! The timer is set for 20 minutes and we do as many rounds as possible in that amount of time.

Piece of cake, wait no PIE! (We just love our pie, peach pie, apple pie...pie for breakfast, pie for lunch, pie for dinner...okay enough about our obsession with pie)

Now for the twisted, spiced up piece of this yummy pie...um I mean Sumo Battle. Each week you begin again! Yes you did read this correctly and just in case you don't believe me, I will say it again: Each week you begin again. In other words, the Brain Monkeys demolition crew come in and totally tears apart your precious little Sumo Bot, crushing all of your hopes and dreams of using that same design again....HA HA HA!

Think you have the skills to build a sumo bot in 90 minutes, battle and then come back again next week and build and program a completely different and improved one? We think you can!

No experience needed, just the willingness to try.
